Martin Taylor
Chief Executive Officer

Martin Taylor joined Kelvin Hughes in 1996 and has worked across all the Kelvin Hughes businesses gaining considerable experience in the maritime industry through various technical, project management and commercial roles. Martin also played a major part in defining the International Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) standards working with the IMO and IEC and led this project within Kelvin Hughes.

From 2004 to 2007 Martin led the Company's successful entry into the Voyage Data Recorder market and in 2007 was appointed Director of the Equipment Business. In 2010 Martin moved into his current role as Managing Director of ChartCo, the nautical charts and data distribution business of the Kelvin Hughes Group. Martin has a degree in Marine Sciences and an MBA and is very active in the international maritime field. He has sat on the board of the CIRM marine electronics trade organisation, is currently President of the Charts and Nautical Instruments Trade Association (CNITA) and also continues to represent the company within the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC).

Sam Samra
Chief Financial Officer

Sam joined Kelvin Hughes in November 2009 initially as Group Financial Controller. In November 2010, Sam took on added responsibility as Finance Director of ChartCo.

Sam started his career with Grant Thornton in 1999 and with their Corporate Finance Lead Advisory team gained significant experience in Private Equity, Leveraged Buy Outs, MBI's and MBO's on both buy side and sell side mandates. Sam left Grant Thornton in 2005 to join one of his clients, a leveraged buy-out, as Finance Director leading their on-going buy and build strategy. In 2008, Sam joined Select Property as Group Finance Director at a time of rapid growth for the business, which saw turnover increase four fold over a 3 year period and profits grow even more sharply. During his time Select Property were ranked eighth in the Sunday Times Best Company to Work For List.

Sam holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Birmingham and is a Chartered Accountant.

Howard Stevens
Chief Commercial Officer

Howard Stevens joined ChartCo as Chief Commercial Officer in November 2016.

Working for both a variety of large corporates and smaller PE / VC backed businesses throughout his career Howard has driven global commercial teams across a number of industry verticals including Banking, Telecoms, Government, Social Media and Manufacturing. The principal focus has been on mobility, the ever increasing need for ubiquitous connectivity and the ability to have information at people's fingertips on their mobile devices.

As Global Head of sales for ADC Metrica Howard was part of an MBO team that took the Metrica business out from under its parent company ADC to form Vallent. He then joined Mobile365 as Global Head of Sales, a 9-year journey which saw them acquired by Sybase, a US based software house who themselves where then acquired by SAP, one of the world's largest software companies. Howard then ran the Telecommunication Vertical for SAP as Global General Manager. His most recent role before joining ChartCo was Global Head of Telecoms and Distribution for Blackberry.

Terry King
Global Operations Manager

Terry King joined Kelvin Hughes in 1977, straight out of school. He was originally based in London, preparing and compiling chart orders for despatch. Terry's career quickly developed with promotions first to head up the nautical stores department and then to running the sales order desk.

In 1990, the Charts Division moved onto the Hainault site and Terry's next role was Operations Manager, looking after the customer service and warehouse teams. During this period, Kelvin Hughes saw the launch of several new products and services, the most notable of which was the Outfit Management System, which Terry was instrumental in setting up and which has since been copied by many other chart agents.

In 2002, Terry capitalised on his years of experience and reputation within the industry and moved into Sales. He went out into the field to visit both new and existing customers, winning new high profile accounts and setting up a network of sub-distributors. From 2005 to 2007, Terry developed the Commercial and Financial operations of ChartCo and then moving on to become General Manager.

Today Terry is the Global Operations Manager of ChartCo, with worldwide responsibility for warehousing and customer service.

Julian Reichert
Head of Commercial and Technical Support

Julian joined Kelvin Hughes as Commercial Projects Manager responsible for the development of the digital and electronic charts products and services for ChartCo. As Head of Commercial and Technical Support Julian has additional responsibility for all commercial matters relating to ChartCo as well as ensuring that the company's flagship software PassageManager and digital services are fully supported by a team of technical experts.

Previously Julian headed the commercial department of one of the world's largest independent aircraft maintenance organisations, responsible for project management and new business development and successfully secured a number of high value long term contracts with blue chip multinational airlines.

Julian holds a post graduate Diploma in Management Studies and is Six Sigma and Prince2 Practitioner qualified.

Steve Tucker
Head of Products

Steve Tucker joined Kelvin Hughes in 1995, and prior to this was sponsored by them for his PhD entitled "Rule based decision Support for Marine Collision Avoidance in an Integrated Bridge environment" at the Liverpool John Moores University. He also has an honours degree in Mathematics from Warwick University, and a master's degree in Information Technology Systems from Strathclyde University.

Steve's career at KH started in research & software development for various navigation products e.g. Multi-Function Display (MFD), Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) & Conning Display. In 1999, Steve was appointed Project Manager for the Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) development. In 2002, Steve headed up the Integrated Bridge Systems (IBS) department at a time of considerable growth, & oversaw further developments for Track Control & DNV Nav1 certification. In 2004, he became the Project Manager for the highly successful MantaDigital™ Chart Radar development. In 2010, Steve then progressed to become the Commercial Product Development Manager overseeing all of the commercial engineering activities, and in particular the ECDIS Type approval for MantaDigital™, which for the first time provides a truly multi-functional navigation display based on common core software and hardware. Steve joined ChartCo in October 2012 as Head of Products.

Terry Smallwood
Superyacht Services Director

Terry began his marine career with the Butterfield Harvey Group Company, South Western Marine Factors, in 1973, as East Coast Area Sales Manager. SWMF later became Sowester. Terry also worked with PC Maritime, the Plymouth based Navigation Software Company, which in the early 90's introduced Terry to the Superyacht Market. One of the first Yachts to take the PC Maritime kit on board was the My Fair Lady.

Terry joined Kelvin Hughes over ten years ago as an Area Sales Manager for the distribution side of the Leisure Business and quickly became the Manager of the Leisure Business, which at that time contained the Superyacht Business. Various initiatives saw the business grow, but mainly it was the development of the relationship with the market that took ChartCo forward and enabled Terry to run ChartCo Superyacht Services as an individual and unique brand and business, which continues to grow.

Mike Kerr
Leisure Manager

Mike Kerr joined Kelvin Hughes over ten years ago as Leisure Purchasing Manager responsible for maintaining key supplier relationships and building the product folio offered by Kelvin Hughes to the leisure market. While still maintaining responsibility for leisure purchasing, Mike then worked as Leisure Operations Manager.

Mike has grown the ChartCo Leisure Business brand through managing campaigns, exhibition presence and gained a reputation for excellent customer service. A key element of this is the implementation and management of the ChartCo leisure online store and brand,

Mike is now Leisure Manager, managing all ChartCo Leisure activity in the UK and The Netherlands.

Prior to ChartCo Mike worked at Simpson Lawrence Ltd, a Glasgow based leisure marine manufacturer and distributer, servicing both the OEM and reseller markets in the UK and Internationally.
