PSC Course Information

This course has been designed to help those who manage and operate ships to understand Port State Control and be better prepared and equipped to manage PSC inspections and their possible adverse effects.

This course is run by Regs4ships Senior Consultant Paul Owen. Paul is a Master Mariner who spent 15 years trading worldwide on container ships and reefers, he then joined the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as a marine surveyor. After being promoted to principal surveyor Paul spent 12 years in the MCA’s headquarters as Head of inspection and the UK’s Port State Control coordinator. Paul then did a four year secondment as national expert to the European Maritime Safety Agency. After four years Paul went onto be Head of Ship Safety, developing policy and regulations for ships.

MARPOL Course Information

This course is aimed at all company managers, DPA’s, superintendents, auditors, regulators and all those who inspect ships. The course aims to provide attendees with the skills and knowledge needed to conduct internal and external audits on environmental compliance and act upon the findings.

This course in run by Regs4ships Director Captain Mick Caulkin. Mick spent 14 years at sea on passenger ships tankers and bulk carriers, he then worked for the MCA for over six years as Surveyor of Ships, Ports State Control Inspector, ISM Auditor, Examiner of Masters and Mates and latterly Enforcement officer.
